Programs

The Basic Skills/GED Program

The Basic Skills/GED Program is the agency’s core program from which all
administrative and new project developments flow. Instructional areas include:

  • GED/High School Equivalency topic areas:
    • Science
    • Social studies
    • Language Arts Writing
    • Language Arts Reading
    • Mathematics
  • High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) preparation includes an additional
Health and Civics exam, credit or course, as well as the development of a
    student employability plan.

Spanish GED  program

The Spanish GED Program provides educational services to adult non-native speakers of English to prepare for the Spanish GED examinations. Learners must be able to read at a fourth- grade level or above in Spanish and must be permanent residents of Dane County.

The exact same content and material as found in the traditional GED program is
the key component of the Spanish GED program. The only difference is the test is given in Spanish, so each student must have a mastery of the Spanish written
language.

Pre-GED Program

The Pre-GED Program provides services to those students who need to increase their reading and math skills in order to begin working on their GED. Some students have learning differences which require more direct instruction from a teacher. The Pre-GED Program provides this opportunity. The increased use of volunteers in the program helped Omega School to continue to provide individualized instruction.
